We are Alkisti Volonasis and Romila Strub, two young architects whose paths met at the Politecnico di Milano for a Master’s degree in ‘Architecture – Built Environment – Interiors’. We have recently graduated with a Thesis project that took us all the way to Lima, Peru, for a period of two months. Having won a scholarship from the university, we embarked on a research journey that allowed us to meet numerous inspiring people from a broad range of different disciplines. Curious about the damage that the city’s rapid urbanization is causing on its precious agricultural land, we decided to research transformative architectural solutions that could protect the fragile territory of the Valley of Lurin, located in the southern periphery of the city. Working together on this project made us recognize how complementary we are for one another’s creative processes. During this time, the desire to establish a design studio together grew on us, and we have started to plant the first seeds for it.
